i am currently having exactly the same problem with a 1.3 multijet, i have fitted a fuel pressure regulator, pressure sensor, high pressure pump and a crank sensor and still the van will only start with easy start or on a jump. what i did notice is that i have no crank reading when im turning the engine over but it comes in when the van starts, ive done a current draw test on the starter motor

The problems I have are relatively simple if you have the book or the knowledge but I have neither!!!!
